Flagstone

What is Flagstone?:

Flagstone is a sedimentary rock that is cut or split in layers for walkways and patios. It typically contains types of the mineral feldspar, which gives it its bluish hue. Flagstone is a form of a sandstone, which makes the rock essentially a type of quartz. The material that binds flagstone is usually composed of silica, calcium, or iron oxide. The color of the rock usually comes from the cementing material. Typical colors of flagstone are red, blue, buff, and there are exotic colors like chocolate. It is often used for patios, walkways, steps, fences, housing, fireplaces, and many construction projects.

How do I care for Flagstone Tile and Surfaces:

  • New Installations: New flagstone installations need to be completely cleaned of any concrete used in the installation process, in order to bring out the beauty of the stone. After the installation is complete (usually about 2wks) the flagstone then needs to be sealed properly to protect your investment, and to maintain the stone's natural beauty and looks. We can do this for you at reasonable cost.
  • Refinish/Restore: Like all natural stone surface, your flagstone needs to be maintained properly to ensure that its natural beauty endures for a long time. This means periodic professional cleaning and sealing to eliminate problems caused by normal traffic and environmental factors. We can do this for you whenever required
